Mandatory Medical Insurance Requirement

Stanford University requires all postdocs, regardless of visa status, to be insured by a comprehensive medical plan that is compliant with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. If you waive medical insurance offered to you through the Postdoctoral Scholar Benefits Program, you must provide proof that you have an ACA compliant medical insurance policy (e.g.,through your spouse or an individual policy) to the Postdoc Benefits Office. Waivers will be permitted in very limited instances. Our ACA Minimum Federal Standards document explains the criteria for meeting Stanford's policy for postdoc medical coverage.
